Moto G85 5G display with curved edge: IPS technology

IPS (In-Plane Switching or Advanced Display Panel) technology has an internal arrangement of liquid crystals that prevents leaks and loss of light, which greatly improves image quality and color definition, especially dark tones and contrast level.

What are the advantages of IPS technology?

• Best viewing angle: It’s a constant: most AMOLEDs, historically, distorted the color when viewed from the edges, turning blue most of the time. IPS respond much better in this aspect.
• Better color, brightness and naturalness: Motorola screens have always underperformed at this point, at least compared to high-end iPhone or HTC.
• Greater clarity: The definition of faces and shapes in images is clearer and more defined on smartphoneswith IPS panels.
• Better contrast and more intense white color. At high brightness levels, compared to an AMOLED, the difference in intensity is clear, leaving the rival closer to a grayish tone or off-white.
• Greater response speed. Although each specific panel is distinct, work has been done to improve this aspect in relation to the original TFT and, on average, IPS panels outperform AMOLED.

Why Gorilla® GlaIs ss more resistant? Thanks to its technology with NDR (Native Damage Resistance) it offers improved damage resistance and greater hardness compared to normal crystal compositions and is three times more resistant than Gorilla Glass 2. This native damage resistance is a unique feature of Gorilla Glass 3. Something that Corning is able to provide due to the composition of the crystal, which is capable of resisting deep scratches, which are what cause breakages.

Other problems, such as the optical distortions that, according to Evenson, sapphire can produce or its light transmission, which is 6% lower than that of Gorilla Glass, are other factors that, according to Corning, demonstrate that its screens are superior in all these aspects.
