Motorola cell phones feature more modern technologies and therefore have a more expensive display than older ones. Around 30% of the repairs we receive in our Technical Service correspond to damage to the terminal’s screen. Sometimes there are more serious breaks or deep scratches that damage the touch panel. The common problem with these breakdowns is that the screen is usually more expensive than the labor.

Motorola’s new screen models feature capacitive screens. The touch screen can overlap with other types of screens, such as LCD, for example. The touch cover can be integrated into the screen and not superimposed, as on SUPER AMOLED, HD SUPER AMOLED or retina displays. The new models have a more energy-efficient screen. Motorola has managed to make it 80% more efficient in saving energy on screen consumption.

IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology has an internal arrangement of liquid crystals that prevents leaks and loss of light, which greatly improves image quality and color definition, especially in darkness and lighting levels. 

What are the advantages of IPS technology?

• Best viewing angle: It’s a constant: most AMOLEDs, historically, warp the color when viewing them from the edges, most of the time. IPS responds much better to this technology.
• Better color, shine and naturalness
• Greater clarity: The definition of the faces and shapes of the images is clearer and more defined in the case of smartphones with IPS panels.
• Better contrast and intense white color. At high brightness levels, in front of an AMOLED, you can clearly see the difference in intensity.
• More response speed. Although each specific panel is different, we work to improve this aspect compared to the original TFTs and, on average, they outperform AMOLED panels.

Gorilla® Glass 3 is not just chemically enhanced – its atomic configuration is formulated to make the glass more durable. Corning® Gorilla® Glass with NDR (Native Damage Resistance) is fundamentally harder and more resistant to damage than chemical enhancements.

Other problems, such as the optical distortions that, according to Evenson, produce sapphire or its light transmission, 6% less than Gorilla Glass, are other factors that, according to Corning, show that its screens are superior in all these sections.

To minimize or prevent breakage, we recommend extra strong protective glass.
